Q1 Why does the touch screen fail to work?

After switching the device off, try to restore all factory settings. lf it still doesn't work, please consult after-sales service.

Q2 Why does my screen have jumping points?  

We recommend that you avoid charging during use, or wipe the screen, then wait until it is clean and try.

lf the problem is still haven’t solved, we recommend updating the latest version.

Q3 Why does my pen’s touch screen delay and lag?

Touch screen lag delay is probably some update tasks in the system’s background in the process. Please connect your device to the Internet and leave it for about half an hour before using it. lf the problem is still not solved we recommend rebooting and trying after restoring factory settings.

Q4 Why does the screen not light up, but the press scan light is on?

Press and hold the power button for more than 6 seconds to force power off and then press the device scan light holder to check whether there is a light on.

lf not, then press and hold for 3-5 seconds to reboot.

Q5 Why does my screen not respond when I touch it?

Press and hold the power button for more than 6 seconds to force power off, and then press the device scan light bracket to check whether there is a light on.

If not, then press and hold for 3-5 seconds to reboot.

Q6 Why does my screen have white lines?

We recommend that you try using a wet paper towel(alcohol) to gently wipe the part of the screen where the white lines appear.

 

About Connectivity

Q1 Why can't my pen connect to the internet?

The Dictionary Pen only supports 2.4G Wi-Fi, not 5G. Please try a 2.4G Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot (please check if theiks are options on your mobile phone to set up a 2.4G connection)

 

Q2 Can the pen remember the last network setting and connect automatically or do l have to enter the password every time?

The pen will connect automatically, but the connection may be slow under unstable network conditions.

Q3 Why is my pen unable to connect to the network, and i can't find the Wi-Fi hotspot I want to connect to?

Cannot connect to the network, please check the following points:

1.network needs to be set to 2.4G band.

If you cannot set it, you can ask the network installation business to understand the network band problem.

2.router settings blocklist. You can check the router's manual reset.

3.using a cell phone hotspot connection, the phone needs to open a 2.4G band

connection. lf you cannot modify the network band, you need to confirm whether the phone supports it.

4.shut down and restart, long press the power button (power on button) for 6s

to force power off, and then re-press the power button (power on button) for 3-5s to connect.

5.restore factory settings. *(Refer to “About Factory Settings Restore”)

Q4 Why is my pen unable to connect to the network, and the interface shows "Wi-Fi hotspot not found"?

Set the network to 2.4G band or click "Refresh" on the circle icon at the top right of the screen, try to connect to Wi-Fi again.

If you still can't find the Wi-Fi hotspot, we suggest you long press the power button (power on button) for 6s to force power off, and then press the power button (power on button) again for 3-5s to turn on the dictionary pen.

You can also operate to restore Factory settings to try.

Q5 Why does my pen unable to connect to the network and stuck at the "Wi-Fi on" screen?

Long press the power button (power on button) for 6s to force power off, then re-press the power button (power on button) for 3-5s to power on, try again to connect to the Wi-Fi. lf the problem still cannot be solved, we recommend that you operate to restore factory settings to try.

About Scanning

Q1 Why does my pen have some scanning errors?    

Firstly, connect your device to the network click the exclamation mark button in the translation interface to report the error.

The subsequent technical department will review it, and if errors have been confirmed, the modification will be updated in the new version. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to your current use. Thank you very much for your feedback.

Q2 Why does my pen scan result all incorrect or appear garbled? 

You need to reset the left and right-handed settings according to your operating habits, the process of using the dictionary pen: vertically on the paper, the pen tip flattened against the paper, centered across the font, the drop position to the transparent window to start and end, uniform speed straight line scan.

Note the text itself, the background of the paper, and other factors can disturb the device recognition results.

If you still have problems, we recommend that you restore the factory settings and then try again.

Q3 Why does the black screen appear when scanning?

Please leave the device for at least 15 minutes after connecting it to the Internet, then turn it off and restart it2-3times before using it. Please check if the device is the latest version in the "Settings" screen after connecting the device to the Internet. lf it is the old version, please upgrade the device to the latest version.

Q4 Why does my pen’s scanning response is slow?   

The system's background dictionary resources probably cause the slow scan response is being updated. In addition, the problem may also occur when listening resources are downloaded frequently over a while. Please connect the dictionary pen to the Internet and leave it for a few hours before using it again.

Q5 Why does my pen’s scan light does not work?

Upgrade your device to the latest version and then try again. lf you still have problems after upgrading, you can try to restore the device to factory settings. *(Refer to “About Factory Settings Restore”)

Q6 Why does my pen jump back to the main screen during scanning?

Try to restore the device to factory settings.

Q7 Why does my pen's scanning pronunciation lag? 

The pronunciation lag in scanning is generally caused by network fluctuation or a poor network environment when the device uses the online pronunciation service. Please disconnect the device and then scan again. lf you can use it generally after disconnecting, you can change the network; if the problem is still not solved, we suggest you restore the factory settings and try again.

About Pronunciation

Q1 Does it pronounce automatically or manually?

You can set it according to your needs: go to"Setting"-"Accent"-"Auto Pronunciation". The default setting is automatic pronunciation

Q2 Does it provide American pronunciation or British pronunciation? Can I set either of them as default?

We have both. Tap "Setting"- "Pronunciation" to choose your preferred one.

Q3 How to mute it?

Mute the dictionary pen by turning the volume down to minimum.

Q4 Why doesn't it read the whole sentence?

First check if it is the same situation when connected to the Internet and offline.

If the scanned text is less than 3 words, it will read phrases by default not a whole sentence.

Q5 After adjusting the volume, why is the previous volume setting not working after returning to the home page/ restarting?

Try to connect the pen to the internet and upgrade it. 

Q6 Why is there no sound after scanning?

1.First check the volume setting.

2.lf you have already turned the volume up and there is still no sound, please check whether it is in offline or online mode.

3.lf there is no sound only in online mode, or occasionally, it is recommended

to use the offline mode first and to check whether all sentences/words are not

pronounced online or whether just some words are not pronounced

4.lf all sentences/words are not pronounced, please try to restart the pen

5.lf it still doesn't work after restarting, try to connect to your earphones to check

if it has sound. lf not, please try to reset all settings. Go to “Setting"-"About"-"Factory Reset".

 

Q7 Why does it have no sound/ the volume is low?

Please open your device's "More Settings-Volume" interface to adjust the volume.

If the problem has not been solved, we suggest you upgrade to the latest version and leave the dictionary pen online for a while to finish downloading resources.

Q8 Why does it pronounced with noise?

Please upgrade your device to the latest version and try again. lf you still have problems after upgrading, you can restore the device to factory settings.

Q9 Why does it have no sound online only/ the volume is low?

Because the dictionary pen has optimized the speech synthesis service, an unstable network environment might cause no sound.

We recommend changing the network, and upgrading to the latest version.

Q10 Why does it have no sound both offline and online/the volume is low?

Please upgrade your device to the latest version and try again. lf you still have problems after upgrading, you can restore the device to factory settings.

About Earphones

Q1 Does it support bluetooth earphones?   

Yes, it supports bluetooth earphones with 4.0/4.1/4.2/5.0 version.

Q2 How to connect my Airpods to Youdao Dictionary Pen?    

1.With your AirPods in their case, open the lid.

2.Press and hold the setup button on the back of the case until the status light flashes white.

3.Turn on the bluetooth of the dictionary pen and select AirPods in the devices list.

Q3 Can the dictionary pen connect to the Bluetooth on my phone?

No.

Q4 Why can't Bluetooth earphones be paired/not being detected?      

You can use version 4.0/4.1/4.2/5.0 Bluetooth earphones, restart the Bluetooth earphones and Dictionary Pen respectively, and confirm that the Bluetooth earphones are not automatically connected to other electronic products, then reconnect with the Dictionary Pen according to the steps of the Bluetooth earphones pairing method.

If you cannot solve the problem, you can follow the steps below:

1.Upgrade the device to the latest version.

2.Restore the factory settings. *(Refer to “About Factory Settings Restore”)

Q5 Why Bluetooth earphones Connected but have no Sound/volume is low?

We recommend that you try to adjust using the volume adjustment button or upgrade your device to the latest version.

If the problem still can't be solved, you can also try to restore the factory settings

Q6 Wired earphones-After plugging in the earphones, products & earphones have no sound, unplug the earphones product can be played through the speakers

We recommend that you try to adjust using the volume adjustment button or upgrade your device to the latest version.

If there is still no sound when you plug in the earphones, please refer to the following for troubleshooting according to the actual situation:

1.Try to replace other wired headsets and device connections first;

2.Upgrade the device to the latest version again;

3.Restore factory settings. *(Refer to About Factory Settings Restore”)

Q7 Wired earphones-After plugging in the earphones, the sound is played out through the product, but the earphones have no sound

You can turn the dictionary pen off, leave it for a few minutes, and turn it on again.
